Repair or replace: how do you decide?
We start with the cheap checks. A fresh battery fixes a surprising number of dead remotes. Worn or collapsed buttons can be fixed with a new rubber pad or a new shell, keeping your original electronics. If the circuit board is cracked or corroded, replacement is the honest answer — and we program the new fob to your car before we leave.
My remote stopped working after a battery change. Why?
Some remotes need re-syncing to the car after the battery is out for a while — usually a sequence of ignition turns and button presses that varies by brand. Others lose nothing and should just work; if yours doesn't, the battery may be fitted backwards, the contacts may be dirty, or the fob was already failing. We re-sync or diagnose it at your car.
Can you just replace the broken case?
Yes, and it is one of the cheapest fixes we do. If the blade or buttons are fine but the plastic shell is cracked, we move your existing chip and electronics into a new shell — flip-key or standard — and cut a fresh blade if the old one is worn. You keep your programming, so there is nothing to re-sync.
What is the difference between the remote and the chip key?
The remote handles lock, unlock and boot from a distance; the transponder chip is what lets the engine start. A key can have a working chip but a dead remote, or the reverse. When you describe the fault — 'it starts the car but won't lock it' — tell us exactly that, so we bring the right parts.

Remote Key Fob Replacement & Repair: questions we hear
How do I know if it's the battery or the fob?
If the range shrank gradually before it died, it is almost certainly the battery. If it died suddenly after a drop or wash, suspect the fob. We test both at your car and only replace what is actually broken.
Can you program a second-hand remote to my car?
Some remotes can be reused, many cannot — it depends on the brand's security design. Send a photo of the remote and your car's details on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly before booking a visit.
Will a new remote work with my car's alarm?
Yes. We program the replacement to your car's own system, so the central locking and factory alarm respond to it exactly as they did to the original.
Do you fix boot-release buttons that stopped working?
Yes — individual button failure is usually worn contacts, fixed with a new pad or shell. If the whole remote is dead, we diagnose whether it is battery, board or sync.
